The emptiness inside us

...That's why when we don't have the divine consolation, we feel an emptiness inside our souls. And the soul can rest with nothing, because every mortal thing is extraneous to the soul. But, when a man is approaching God through prayer and virtuous way of life, his soul feels familiar with God's presence. Only then the soul feels safe. Only then the soul feels God.
